Discover Resources
The Mitchell Museum of the American Indian focuses exclusively on American Indian cultures across the United States, Canada, and the Artic. Resources include a collection of over 10,000 tribal objects, 3,000 sourced books/periodicals. We are always working on new ways to use and present our resources to better showcase American Indians and their unique experiences.
Educators
We are working to provide quality professional development training and educational resources for educators to share Native American histories and cultures more accurately and appropriately with classrooms.
On-site Resources
At the Mitchell, visitors can enjoy exhibits that highlight American Indian communities across the continent and access over 3,000 American Indian focused books, magazines, and videos that are sourced to ensure proper representation.
In addition, supervised access to the entire museum collection is available upon prior request.
Traveling Resources
We offer several options that facilitate learning about American Indians outside of the building. Our popular loan box program provides educators and parents with resources and objects that focus on the various geographical regions. Our traveling programs can bring one of our knowledgeable docents and unique tribal community items to any event.
Online Resources
Our online resource section contains educational information and activities that can enhance your visit to the museum by providing sourced information that directly relates to our exhibits and guided tours.
We are currently working without community-based operations to bring the museum to you in more virtual museum experience.
