Indigenous Chicago Tour

• Visit us for a tour of our first-floor exhibit, Indigenous Chicago. Native communities have called Chicagoland home since time immemorial. From the Tribes living in the region before the first French explorers passed through to one of the largest and most diverse Native American communities in the country, this tour explores the ways that Native Americans in and around Chicago have advocated for themselves, supported one another through removal and relocation, and have continued to thrive up into the modern day!

Native Life in the Great Lakes Field Trip

• Join us for an interactive field trip program to help your students learn about Native cultures! In this program, we talk about the way that Native Americans in the Great Lakes region traditionally met universal human needs like food, clothing, housing, transportation, and art, and how these cultures have made lasting contributions to our country. Students will also learn about Potawatomi constellations and star knowledge, as well as the continued presence of thriving Native communities in the United States. This program includes a choice of craft activities, which students can take home with them afterwards as souvenirs.
