First-Floor Galleries
We welcome guests to engage with the diverse and dynamic Native cultures of the United States and Canada through our first-floor galleries. Divided across five principal regions of the United States and Canada- Woodlands, Great Plains, Southwest, Pacific Coast, and Arctic and Subarctic- our galleries highlight the ways that Native American societies have traditionally met universal needs like food, clothing, housing, transportation, and art. Throughout our galleries, guests will also see contemporary pieces by living artists, highlighting the continuity of Native cultures into the present day!
Private Museum Experiences
We offer visitors the option to schedule 90-minute private tours. Guests can discover the museum with a docent-led tour Tuesday-Friday starting at 10am or 12:30pm.
For the safety of our guests and staff, the Gichigamiin Museum can accommodate private tours for classes or groups ranging from 10-50 people. Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.
