Museum Rebranding

Help us Shape the Future

Over the past two years, the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian has undergone a significant transformation that included becoming a majority Native-led organization in its 46-year history and establishing a new purpose, mission, and vision that shifts our broad focus on the Indigenous people of the U.S. and Canada to one that celebrates the histories, cultures and contemporary contributions of Chicago’s Native community and the Tribal Nations across the Great Lakes region.

During this time, we have listened carefully and actively sought input on our new direction and long-term goals from Native communities, our members and donors, partner organizations, and area residents. Based on this feedback, we have collectively decided to align the museum’s branding with a new name and logo that reflects the Native people and cultures of the Great Lakes region.

As we take this initial step toward rebranding, we welcome you to share your thoughts on the museum’s identity, logo, and name in a brief survey that will take approximately five minutes to complete. Thank you for your feedback and for helping shape the Mitchell Museum’s future.

As the Mitchell Museum continues the next steps in our community-driven rebranding journey, we will host a series of hybrid focus groups to seek valuable input from the Native community, our members, and partners.
